7 March 2010

Today was a great day! This morning we dug through the boxes in storage on our property and found our pots and pans. The only pots and pans in the vacation home we are living in are aluminum and have been around for a long time.
We also dug out the loom and brought it up to the house. Everything went back together as it should and I already have a project started on it. I bought a kit before we left to make bath mats. I figured this would be a useful project, that didn't take any electricity. Oh, how nice it is to be looming again!
About 1:00 this afternoon, we took a swim in the ocean. It was very refreshing and we enjoyed it immensely. Stormy got into it as well. She came out to be with us and got only so deep before she would take off back to shore. A couple of times she was in over her head, but it didn't seem to bother her a bit. Once we were beyond her comfort level, she roamed the beach chasing sand crabs. One crab caught her by the lip and she had quite a time shaking it off. Even so, she kept chasing them but was a bit shrewder about it. It was a fun time on the beach.
We then went to Vichayito to eat lunch at El Refugio and talk with Carla and Javier about the availability of gas refrigerators in Piura. Lunch wasn't the best, but we did get some information about refrigerators. According to Javier there are a couple of stores in Piura that may have used gas refrigerators. So, at this point, we're using a cooler while we investigate our options.
We came back up to the house and settled in for the evening. I worked on the loom and Doug watched the Pacific Ocean just to see what he could see.
Tomorrow morning we will head to Talara to get the truck serviced. It is generally an all day deal, but I don't know what we'll do all day.
