12 February 2010

We returned from our trip to Ecuador this morning at 4:30 am. We took over 500 pictures and I wrote journal entries on all sorts of pieces of paper while there. It will take me some time before I can get it all together and get it posted. Please be patient.

Once back in our room in Vichayito, we slept and didn't get around until about 11:00. We went into town and paid our bill at the grocery stall where Juan had bought groceries for the week for the workers.

We then traveled out to the property to see the progress that had been made out there. Preparations were being made to pour the floor for the mechanical room. Plumbing lines were being laid and the sand was being tamped down. The pouring was to happen this afternoon. All of the walls for the pantry, storage and kitchen were up. The master suite was also all bricked in. Two of the three bungalows also had walls erected. The swimming pool foundation had been poured and they were working on the first of three sections of the pool. The cement walls for the pool will be poured in three sections with "water stops" between each. The septic tank has been finished as has the cistern. It has been fun to watch the progress; we are both anxious to get back out there.

We will be able to return to Georg's vacation home next to our property on the first of March when the kids have to go back to school after their summer vacation. Not only will it be nice to be back out in El Nuro, but it will be a huge advantage to be right there as the construction happens.

  1. Glad you're back. Can't wait to "hear" all about it. It looks like a lot got done while you were gone.
